Fab day at Art from the Heart

Had an absolutely super day today. Did a class at art from the heart with Dyan Reaveley creating a canvas. It was really interesting to see how each class members' canvas turned out - we were all following the same instructions but they all ended up so different. It also gave me the confidence to have a go myself with the stack of blank canvases that I have been building up over last year!;-)

Anyway this is the final piece ready to be hung on my bedroom wall. Would thoroughly recommend this class!

Can't believe its the end of October!

Well it's shameful!  I have not blogged since the summer (well if you can call it that!).  Where has the time gone.  So my October resolution is to make sure that I blog more often (mmmm- how long will I meet that resolution!).  The last few months have whizzed past.  Have spent a lot of time making cards for my stall at various craft shows and I have totally fallen in love with art journalling.  This is something completely for me (which is probably a good thing as my hubby just doesn't get it!)  and its all about what I want to create!  I will post some of my journal pages at a later date but for now this is my October one for the Kate Crane monthly journal page challenge.  Really pleased with the image which I came across in a magazine- really unusual and perfect for the Halloween month!  Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Artsy Crafts - rusty relic magic!

Hi Bloggers!
Not had chance to get to the mac this week to update the blog on the fab time that I had at Artsycrafts on Sunday.  I could only make one of the three days that Leandra and Lin were running but what a day!  Crafting just about solidly from 8.30 in the morning to 5pm at night.  I met some wonderful people (Sharon - Artist Trading post and Rachel and Janet who were on my table - stay in touch ladies!)  We made a 'rusty relic' which involved sssssooooo many techniques from painting to working with clay, to making image transfers  to rusting  and lots (and I mean lots) of wire work!  This is the end result.  Thanks to Leandra and Lin - I had a fab time!

Very busy at the moment prepping for new classes and have a lot of commissions for cards which I need to get finished in the next couple of weeks, as well as making all the cards for the craft fairs that I have stalls at!  Its a good job the rain is keeping me inside in my craft room!  :-)

Bye for now!

June Journal page

Hi Bloggers!  Well below is my June journal page.  I actually finished this well before June (very pleased with myself!) but have not had chance to post it until now as I have been on holiday in Devon which was lovely.

I found this image of the ice cream van in a magazine a while ago and wanted to use it in one of the Summer months' journal pages (although it is June I am sat here writing this with a scarf on and freezing!).  The background was made using Dylusion sprays and they were run down the page which reminded me a bit of dripping ice cream - hence the use of the ice cream van this month.  In hindsight I probably should have gone with red, white and blue to mark the jubilee celebrations but never mind :-).  Have made my own modifications to the ice cream van as you can see!  Enjoy!

Hot Hot Hot!

Well this is just awesome!  I am sat outside in this beautiful weather, Macbook on my knee, green tea in my hand (would like it to be a Pimms but got to pick little one up from school later!) writing this blog.....sat under a huge umbrella I might add - I burn easily :-)

I have been busy this last week catching up on a few bits and pieces.  First I finished my sample for my class at Samuel Taylors Brighouse on 23rd June.  Its all about making flowers for craft projects - bet you couldn't guess that could you!

I am also going on hols to Devon soon - can't wait!  And so decided to take my small journal with me so I could write about what we did.  So I wanted to get some journal pages ready which I could do some further doodling on.  I have to admit I really lovely creating journal pages - its all about you and what you like and being totally imaginative.  My husband doesn't get it at all!!!  Anyway this is what I came up with.  Plenty of space to write.

I also managed to get my June Journal page for Kate Crane's 2012 monthly page challenge  completed but you will have to wait for June to see that.....

Bye for Now

Distress,Distress, Distress!

Hi Bloggers!
Yes two posts in one day! And no I am not distressed!  Actually I'm just working my way through a long to-do list a lot of which consists of stuff on the Mac - "Update craft teaching information" is next so here it is.  I will be teaching a class at Samuel Taylors at Brighouse on 19th May on how to use all the TH Distress products.  I am mad about distress inks so I am really looking forward to running this class!

The cards that we will be making feature the distress inks, stains and markers.

Hope you like them and hope to see some of you there!

May Art Journal page

Hi Bloggers!
Well the journalling addiction still continues.  This is my May attempt for Kate Crane's 2012 diary challenge.  Have been desperate to use this stamp for ages and so I decided that I could wait no longer and used it for May's page.  I also have learned my lesson  not to put too much on the page and I have quite comfortably got my day squares fitted on the page!  Yipppee!  The only disappointing thing was that I had some ink run through the centre of the page from another inking session - never mind I guess it adds to the character of it all.

And the final page with squares.....

Art journalling - think i'm hooked!

Well a new crafting addiction me thinks!  Went on an Art Journalling course a couple of weeks ago with Kate Crane and it was fab!  So have decided to have a go, bought a few journals both large and small and I'm on my way!  Have decided to try and keep up with the 2012 365 challenge that Kate set on her blog - yes I realise I have missed the first three months of 2012 but I will do my best to not miss any more; I promise :-)

So here is my attempt.  The page is done with dylusion ink sprays, acrylic paints stencils and stamps.  I wanted to use the Claudine Hellmuth flower stamps which I just love.

I think my only mistake was that I perhaps did not give myself enough room for the day squares!!?? But I will know for next time.  Hope you like it!

The finished pages, just got to write on it now!

Vintage car - 21st celebration

Two posts in one day - not like me but I was asked last week to do a 21st birthday card for one of my friend's son.  My brief was it had to have son on it and 21 and had to be blue and green.  This is what I came up with..... Really enjoyed making the son banner and it gave me a chance to get out the Vagabond machine and my TH dies and have a play.  Hope you like it!

Better go now - two hungry little girls to feed - daughter has her friend over!

My March attempt : TH's 12 tags of 2012

As I am sure most of you know Tim Holtz is doing a set of tags for each month of 2012.  Well I managed to get a bit of time to have a go at a tag based on his latest technique and tag - faux mosaic.  Unfortunately I didn't have a butterfly die but instead used the umbrella man die.  I used a copper embossing powder to act as the 'cement' between the 'mosaic tiles' and did a slightly different background for my tag-  used distress stain, background stamping and then used perfect pearl mist copper through a stencil and edged the tag with brown acrylic paint; all finished off with a bit of tissue tape.  Really enjoyed doing this one and it was really easy to do!

IndigoBlu samples : loving these!

Hi all!
Hope you are all doing okay and have recovered from Christmas. I'm just back to normality I think. Child back at school and back to work both normal work work and craft work. The schedule of classes are up and running at Samuel Taylor's at Brighouse and I have a class in
February and March. My first one is using IndigoBlu stamps (25 february). These stamps are just fab and there are so many ways to use them. In February I will be running a class to make the three cards pictured below. I really enjoyed doing these... So if you are local to West Yorkshire or not (I do have some ladies who come all the way from Scarborough) please sign up for the classes.

I must admit I did lose my mojo a bit over Christmas but after its festive break it is definitely back!!! Have also tried not to buy so much crafting stuff - I mean it's not like I need it, but have recently purchased a few bits and pieces so watch this space for my creations.

Take care
Tx

Ps I have just checked on Samuel Taylor's website and currently there is a mistake with the class list and my Feb class isn't showing but I'm definitely doing it!!
